Katina is a musician, director, and educator based in San Carlos, California. Her music spans from medieval songs to opera and performance art. She has performed on tour in Italy and Germany in medieval castles and churches. Katina holds degrees from Rice University and the University of Southern California. Her rich, sweet voice captures nostalgic elements of folk songs from all over the world

Katrina Z., Violinist & Singer

Katrina was raised in a musical family in the North Bay and earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. While there, she studied voice and violin while also studying Anthropology and ultimately earning a double-degree. Katrina specializes in Irish and Celtic music as well as classical vocal music in a variety of languages, ranging from French to Italian. She often performs her sister, an accomplished musician and harpist, and other musical colleagues and artists. In addition to music, Katrina is an activities therapist for isolated seniors in the Bay Area, and truly loves sharing her passion for the arts with older adults.

Margaret, Solo Harp & Duo Available

With an enchanting repertoire of Classical, Celtic, Renaissance and Medieval music, Margaret has been performing professionally for over 10 years for all sorts of events. Sophisticated and elegant, the gentle music of the Celtic harp makes an unforgettable addition to your activities calendar. Margaret holds a degree in music and is past Chairman of the Board of the Bay Area Folk Harp Society. Margaret also performs with her husband in their award-winning duo. Their delightful repertoire ranges from upbeat jigs and reels, to beautiful harp tunes, show tunes from Broadway musicals, favorite singalong folksongs, and much more! They are both classically trained singers, and between them they play Celtic harp, guitar, flute, octave mandolin, recorders, tin whistle, and percussion. Performing highlights have included Herbst Theatre, Freight & Salvage, the Walnut Creek and Mill Valley Art & Wine Festivals, and in 2008 they performed in the Disney movie Bedtime Stories.

Vocal Edition, A Capella Group

Vocal Edition is an eight-person a cappella group based in San Francisco that infuses creativity, diversity, and musicality into unique vocal arrangements. We are young men and women from a variety of careers and professions brought together by a passion and love for music. Our repertoire is an eclectic mix of pop, alternative and R&B songs that masterfully intertwine the past and present. Francesca, Singer-songwriter

Francesca Lee writes honest and soulful songs that tell intimate stories of the human heart. She is best known for her rich velvety voice and stripped-down acoustic style in the folk/pop genre. Francesca has been headlining with her band, The New Believers, at high profile NoCal venues like Yoshi’s, Café Du Nord and her home base, Hotel Utah. Selected for inclusion for the KFOG Local Scene 6 CD, Francesca was featured in a live broadcast and interview from San Jose on the station’s Morning Show to celebrate the station’s Local Music Month.

Pawel W., Cellist

Pawel Walerowski was born into a musical family in Poland. His early career included recording for radio and television in Europe and traveling extensively as a leading cellist with A.L.l. Webber musicals. After graduating from the Conservatory in Poznan, Poland, Pawel was awarded a scholarship to study cello at the University of Arizona. Pawel played on a cruise ship for a year before settling down in the Bay Area. For the past 10 years he toured the U.S, premiered musicals, played at Berkeley Rep, worked for SF Symphony education department and freelanced with many ensembles. Currently Pawel serves as a musician at St Mary’s church in Walnut Creek where he plays piano, organ and cello.

Pam Heier, Jeff McMoyler and Jim Wiant are a trio playing Americana roots music mixed with a little country. Their 3-part harmonies are nothing less than extraordinary, bringing back songs from The Everly Brothers, The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees. Songs by Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard and Bob Dylan are always on their set list as well.

Bachata Breakdown instructors Matt Namkung, Amie Lam, and Jenna Carlsson are passionate Latin dancers who have 20 years of combined dance experience in salsa, cumbia and bachata. They have danced on numerous bachata teams from Team Rodchata, Fever Dance Academy, and Sabor Latino Dance Company, most recently co-directing the team. Claire is an artist, musician and curator living and working in Oakland, CA. Her practice includes painting and drawing, sculpture, video, and performance art. Having spent the last 10 years of her life deeply involved in DIY communities, she is currently cultivating her professional career in the Bay Area while retaining her connections and convictions of the DIY world. Claire also maintains a close relationship with her grandmother and several other older adults. She enjoys connecting with and caring for people of all ages. She is a joyful, patient and empathetic person who thrives by bringing happiness to others. Claire can teach many kinds of art classes and happily works with supplies already available at facilities.

Amanda D., Art Teacher - Painting & Holiday Decor

Amanda has always gravitated and thrived within the visual arts community. Since the young age of 18, Amanda has grown a dynamic and budding career within the arts; especially within the theatre & film industry, photography, and painting. In Amanda's painting classes, students recreate existing artwork using acrylic paints, canvas, and brushes. Amanda's Holiday Decor DIY classes are extremely popular because of how simple and fun they are. In these classes, students learn to use silk screen transfers and chalk paints.

During her workshops, Barbara uses poetry to spark meaningful conversation. Barbara reads from her own work and invites others to bring and share their own poetry. Poetry is often an expression of deeper, inner feelings and emotional material. Whatever comes up during the workshop, Barbara will gently hold the conversation. Barbara is from Holland where she worked as a director at an assisted living facility

Valerie P., Writer & Teacher

Valerie Haynes Perry is the author of two novels (Tanner Blue and Members); a novella (Painted Deserts); a collection of short stories (Music for the Dream); Qpid and Them—Vignettes; and three innovative books about creative writing: Listening Out Loud—A Friend to the Serious Writer; Write, Read, Listen—Your Handy Writing Coach; and Write the Book You Want—Be Your Own Coach. She has worked in the publishing industry as a developmental editor and book indexer. Currently, Valerie coaches serious writers and leads Motivational Writing™ Circles. She developed this approach in order to empower creative writers by emphasizing reading aloud, committing to completing works in progress, and encouraging fellow writers. Valerie holds an M.A. in Spanish and has taught Spanish grammar at several community colleges. She is an avid reader and lover of various aspects of language. Corey W., Lecturer - Math & Data Science

Corey is a storyteller, a lover of numbers, and an educator. He uncovers the stories within big data and translates them into compelling narratives that anyone can understand. Creative expression, mathematical exposition and metric design inform his work. As a data scientist, Corey wrote a piecewise linear function that transforms any thumbs up/thumbs down system into percentile rankings with skewness intact. He also predicted helpful book reviews with 90% accuracy using LogisticRegression, CountVectorizer and the Confusion Matrix. In sports analytics, he developed 3NG, the first comprehensive basketball 3-point statistic that ranks 3-point shooters based on accuracy and volume. As an educator, Corey has taught numerous courses including AP Statistics, AP Calculus, HTML Programming and Ethnic Studies. He has also chaired the Math Department at Berkeley Independent Study for the last six years.

Erica has felt an affinity for seniors since childhood when she helped her mother care for both of her grandmothers, stepfather, as well as close family friend. She would like to share her knowledge and experiences with older adults, and believes they deserve high quality education and experiences. Erica is a Getty Photographer and Videographer. She has also given motivational seminars on self-development and healing from past traumas for at risk youth. Currently, Erica is writing a book to be released next year; it will be centered around joy, healing, and creating great relationships. Erica would be happy to tailor these subjects for the elderly community while also including topics on nutrition and healthy aging. Erica studied theater, film, and dance at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood.

Eun has been a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist for 9 years and has given 25,000+ treatments in the Bay Area. She believes deeply in the power of the body's innate wisdom to heal itself and acupuncture encourages this process. She owns a community acupuncture clinic, Tune Up Community Acupuncture, that makes access to healthcare accessible and affordable. Her gentle touch with the acupuncture needles makes everyone feel at ease.
